Candi Carpenter performed to a lovely audience at the Rivoli in Toronto;
concluding their “Is that all there is to a tour?” with Zee Machine, Kalie
Shorr and Jenna Devries. It was a fun show that felt like a celebration of
queer and neurodivergent joy. With an intimate sit-down moment alongside
the crowd infamously coined “floor time”. What’s beautiful about music and
the lyrics an artist writes is the way it can relate to so many people even if
the experience is not universal. “Everybody Goes to Hell” is one of those
songs, if you grew up religiously I am sure you can relate too, I know I
related to a handful of the lyrics. Candi is an artist that deserves to be
listened to, if you’re a fan of LOLO and Honey Revenge, add Candi
Carpenter to you’re listening roster.
