This past holiday weekend (July 5-7) the incredible team behind the Levitate surf and skate shop hosted their 11th annual Levitate Music and Arts Festival in the coastal beach town of Marshfield, Massachusetts. Over the course of three days the festival brought in thousands of music lovers of all ages. This year’s festival boasted headliners Mt. Joy, Lake Street Drive, and the iconic Sublime now fronted by Jacob Nowell, the son of the late Bradley Nowell. Other musical highlights included performances by The Moss, Orebolo, Grace Bowers, Stolen Gin, The Elovators, Ritchy Mitch & The Coal Miners, Ziggy Alberts, and surprise appearances by Ripe, Stick Figure, and Mihali.
In addition to the 30 acts playing at either the Stoke, Style, or Soul Stages, festival-goers were able to shop a variety of local art, jewelry, and clothing vendors as well as an abundant array of food and drink options. Live art exhibitions took place as well as community art projects that were open to the public to work on. South Shore native and skate legend Nora Vasconcellos was also in attendance, leading the Nora and Friends Community Skate Jam.
The positive, art appreciating spirit of the festival radiated through the grounds and through each festival goer. The Levitate organization has created an event that is central to the South Shore of Massachusetts and it has become a beacon for all art and music lovers.
A percentage of proceeds generated from the festival were donated to the Levitate Foundation, a charitable fund founded by the Levitate brand which aims to “cultivate a better future by creating and conserving access to music, arts, and the outdoors”.
